Games with DirectX 10 support

In September 2005 CryTek, developer of Far Cry, released a movie that showcased some of the capabilities of the Cry Engine 2 under DirectX 10 API: dynamic day/night cycle, fully interactive enviroments, sunrays and diffuse transmission, real time soft shadows, soft particles, interactive/destructrible enviroments, volumetric clouds, and advanced shader technology… All this was supposed to be in game named Crysis, which was at that time on schedule to be shipping, as the first DX10 enabled game, in Q4 2006.

Of course Microsoft was late with its Vista operating system, and in the mean time there was also an internal Microsoft decision, that DirectX 10 (DX10) would noly ship with Vista. Due to poor penetration of Vista, today it is already clear, that this was one of the major strategic mistekes Microsoft made in last years.

But all in all Direct X 10 games are an evolutionary step further, and more and more DX10 capable games are hitting the market. We will list all DX10 games, and provide overall summary on its quality, originality and gameplay, so you can decide which one to support. Hope to finally put that expensive DX10 hardware to good use!
